TOKYO (AP) - A hefty cut in a key short term interest rate in the U.S. has been welcomed on world markets with a rebound in stock trading. But as the day progressed, many Asian markets trimmed their initial, robust gains.
Stocks surge as Wal-Mart gains, oil drops
U.S. stocks rose sharply on Monday and the Dow average set another record high as investors welcomed Wal-Mart Stores Inc.'s plan to scale back spending and as falling gasoline prices augured well for consumer spending.
