Appeals court rejects SEC rule reining in hedge funds; Pequot denies improper trading

In a setback to the Securities and Exchange Commission, a federal appeals court on Friday overturned a rule bringing hedge funds under new supervision by the agency. Separately, Pequot Capital Management, a major hedge fund that is under SEC investigation for possible insider trading, denied that there was any improper activity by the fund.

Euronext welcomes proposal to absorb Frankfurt and Milan stock exchanges

The pan-European stock market operator Euronext has said it welcomed the idea of Deutsche Boerse and the Milan bourse merging with it, but has insisted this would only be complementary to its planned merger with New York Stock Exchange.
