Wall Street gave up a moderate gain in late trading and closed marginally lower Monday after the Federal Reserve and other central banks added more cash to their banking systems, helping investors set aside some concerns about credit tightness.
Blue chips boost China index 1.40 pct to record
SHANGHAI, Aug 27 (Reuters) - China's main stock index surged 1.40 percent to a fresh record high on Monday, buoyed by the blue chips favoured by mutual funds, although most stocks fell on profit-taking.

Japan to partially keep tax break for capital gains on stocks: report
_ The Japanese government plans to partially retain a tax break for capital gains on stock trading for individual investors beyond its scheduled expiration in December 2007 to help prevent any sharp fall in stock prices, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun said in its Wednesday evening edition.
