A former Biogen Idec executive agreed yesterday to pay $372,000 to settle allegations that he used confidential information gleaned as an “insider” to profit from his selling of another company’s stock.

Chirac, Merkel back 'European solution' for Euronext, Frankfurt exchanges
French President Jacques Chirac said that he and German Chancellor Angela Merkel backed "a European solution" for alliances by pan-European market operator Euronext and the Frankfurt stock exchange.

MOSCOW, Oct 30 (Reuters) - Russia's RTS exchange said it was suspending stock trading for one hour from 1405 local time (1105 GMT) on Thursday due to the sharpness of the market rally. At the time of the stoppage, the benchmark RTS index was up 12.2 percent. Russia's other exchange, the MICEX, halted stock trade for an hour from 1035 GMT.
