NEW YORK - US stock markets were higher Monday morning as investors tied up their year-end positions and as Merrill Lynch announced it had won sizeable cash infusions of up to 6.2 billion dollars.
SCIC gets ready to play the market
HA NOI — The State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC) yesterday began the process of buying shares listed on both the HCM City Stock Exchange and the Ha Noi Securities Trading Centre, the SCIC announced in a statement on its website.

On Tuesday, United Rentals will be in day fourteen of a Dutch auction self tender for 31.4 percent of its stock at $22 to $25. The offer is scheduled to expire on July 16. Management is not participating in the offer nor is directors and according to the last United Rentals proxy they own 2.1 percent of the company.
