Tokyo bourse posts 40 pct profit rise in FY04/05

TOKYO, April 26 (Reuters) - The Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE), Asia’s biggest bourse, reported on Tuesday a 39.5 percent rise in group recurring profit for the last business year as increased trading volume led to higher revenue.

NYSE, Archipelago to vote on deal

Exchange members and shareholders of the electronic stock trader meet separately on Dec. 6. Gov't to partially keep tax break for capital gains on stocks

TOKYO — The Japanese government plans to partially retain a tax break for capital gains on stock trading for individual investors beyond its scheduled expiration in December 2007 to help prevent any sharp fall in stock prices, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun said in its Wednesday evening edition.

Profit growth cools for dealers

Profit growth at Canada's securities dealers is cooling, as a result of a slowdown in stock trading and sales of new shares and trust units, but the big fees that come from advising on mergers and acquisitions are keeping the industry on track for a record year.
