Lincoln National buying Jefferson-Pilot for about $7.5 billion US

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Insurance provider Lincoln National Corp. agreed Monday to acquire Jefferson-Pilot Corp. for about $7.5 billion US in cash and stock. Jefferson-Pilot's shares rose nearly seven per cent in stock trading.
