Surprise bid for Disney
ORLANDO, Fla. — Media conglomerate The Walt Disney Co. reported stronger-than-expected first-quarter earnings yesterday, but the results were overshadowed by a surprise takeover bid from cable giant Comcast Corp. Disney released its earnings hours before it had planned in reaction to the Comcast bid, which was announced before the start of stock trading.
