China Stocks Fall, Paring Best Start to the Year Since 2000

March 31 (Bloomberg) — China’s stocks fell for a second day, paring the benchmark index’s best start to the year since 2000, on signs that the regulator will allow initial public offerings to resume after a six-month moratorium.

Retrial begins in brokerage squawk box case

Prosecutors and defense lawyers sparred in opening statements Monday at the start of the retrial in Brooklyn federal court of six men, including three Long Islanders, accused of misusing stock trading information broadcast over brokerage house “squawk boxes” between 2002 and 2004.
