Stock market signals positive in wake of AT&T-BellSouth offer
TORONTO (CP) - Global indicators were mostly positive for North American stock markets early Monday, a day after AT&T Inc.'s $67-billion-US takeover bid for BellSouth Corp. and a day before Canadian interest rates could rise.
Stocks surge as Wal-Mart gains, oil drops
U.S. stocks rose sharply on Monday and the Dow average set another record high as investors welcomed Wal-Mart Stores Inc.'s plan to scale back spending and as falling gasoline prices augured well for consumer spending.
